Rubaiyat 2015

R 330.00

AWARDS  |  TASTING NOTES

The Rubaiyat is De Grendel’s flagship wine, first made in 2006 when cellar master Charles Hopkins was asked by Sir David Graaff to make an ‘iconic’ wine for the Estate.

A classically poetic Bordeaux style blend consisting of a quatrain of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, the Rubaiyat was named after Omar Khayyam’s exquisite collection of 1000 Persian love poems from...

Amandelboord Pinotage 2017

R 190.00

TASTING NOTES

An exceptionally exciting new addition to De Grendel's flagship range, marking not only our cellar’s 10th anniversary, but also made to honour Sir De Villiers Graaff’s grandfather and namesake, the 2nd Baronet, Sir De Villiers Graaff.

Pinotage, especially if it was from the Durbanville Ward, was a favourite cultivar of his grandfather. The wine is inspired by fond memories of the Almond Orchard through which the young Sir De Villiers Graaff would go horse riding...

Op die Berg Pinot Noir 2015

R 190.00

AWARDS  |  TASTING NOTES

A consistent winner of both national and international wine awards, our Pinot Noir is nourished by the unique ‘terroir’ of the Graaff family farm in the Witzenberg Mountain range in Ceres, better known until recently for high quality apples and pears.

At an altitude of 960 meters above sea level, with winter snowfalls often covering the vineyards, a truly continental climate facilitates gradual ripening for a concentrated, luscious, elegant,...

Our Chardonnay is made from grapes grown in a vineyard established on a family farm famous for apples and pears on top of the Witzenberg Mountain in Ceres.

This newly declared appellation of Ceres Plateau is situated 960 meters in altitude, with soft shale soils and extremely cold winters. In some years the vines are completely covered in snow during winter – unique in South Africa and making the climate truly...

Koetshuis Sauvignon Blanc 2017

R 160.00

AWARDS  |  TASTING NOTES

The crisp, grassy De Grendel Koetshuis Sauvignon Blanc was so named because the grapes used to make this wine are grown in the vineyard that sprawls out right next to the old coach house (‘koetshuis’ in Afrikaans) where the wagons of days gone by were once kept.

These grapes are blended with grapes from Darling to create the very fresh wine, with capsicum, asparagus and gooseberry flavours that was...

Three Spades Cider (16 x 330ml)

R 530.00

The Graaff family of De Grendel are closely connected to the apple industry with four generations having strong roots in apple production. It was thus a natural progression for the wine farm to start producing cider. Three Spades Cider is a premium cider that is uniquely made from freshly pressed pure apple juice, rather than apple concentrate. It has been gently hand-crafted using apples from the Elgin terroir – an area that is well-known for...

Sauvignon Blanc 2018

R 100.00

AWARDS  |  TASTING NOTES

The Sauvignon Blanc is more tropical and fruit-driven than the Koetshuis. It’s made from grapes grown in a vineyard which benefits from the cooling effect of gentle maritime breezes from the nearby ocean where the cold Benguela current runs northwards up the coast.

Pale straw in colour, with youthful lime green flashes around the edges, you will notice aromas of grapefruit and other tropical fruits like guava and granadilla...

Sauvignon Blanc Noble Late Harvest 2017 (375ml)

R 140.00

AWARDS  |  TASTING NOTES

Beautiful citrine gold in the glass with rich aromas of ripe yellow-fleshed peaches and spiced apricots, our De Grendel Sauvignon Blanc Late Harvest has a soft palate of fruit, fynbos and honey with flavours of golden sultanas.

Rosé 2018

R 70.00

AWARDS  |  TASTING NOTES

This beautifully striking wine, which resembles the ‘eye of the partridge’ in colour, combines coppery pink hues with a deeper reddish blush. Exceptionally floral and perfumed on the nose with enticingly sweet nuances of lemon and lime carried out of the glass by wafts of Turkish delight and candy floss.

The sweet delight on the nose precedes a dry entry that bursts into juicy strawberry preserve layered with hints...
