Named by the late Sir David Graaff in honour of his wife, Lady Winifred Graaff, this elegant blend reflects the grace, strength, and warmth of its namesake. First crafted to celebrate the opening of our cellar in 2006, Winifred has long been one of De Grendel’s most cherished wines amongst our Loyalty Club members, now available beyond our Loyalty Club for all to enjoy.
A harmonious blend of Viognier, Chardonnay, and Semillon, it offers layers of ripe peach, citrus, and lemongrass, with subtle oak and a silky mouthfeel that unfolds beautifully with each sip.
A wine of quiet sophistication and enduring charm, Winifred pairs beautifully with Sole Meunière, smoked duck, or aromatic Asian dishes. Enjoy now, or cellar for 3–5 years to reveal even greater complexity.
Enjoy with: Seared Scallops, Fresh Seafood, Chicken and Apricot Kebabs, Salads with Citrussy Dressings
Tasting Notes: Grapefruit, Lemon, Peach

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a bright, medium straw colour with a slightly deeper core and medium legs indicating great viscosity. Aromas of lemon zest, Asian pears, yellow cling peach and fresh vanilla pod abound. On the palate the wine is zesty at first, followed by a softer mouthfeel and layer upon layer of flavour as it opens up. Great complexity of toasted walnuts and orange curd combine with refined wood integration and a whiff of Crème Anglaise on the aftertaste.

Food Complements
Enjoy Winifred with seared scallops, fresh seafood straight off the braai (barbeque), chicken and apricot kebabs, and salads with citrussy dressings.

Vintage
The 2020/2021 season presented a cold winter and a cold spring with good rainfall and a very moderate growing period during summer. This resulted in a later-than-usual harvest and grapes were harvested 14 days later compared to 2020.
