Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Sharing Plate

This Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Sharing Plate is all about relaxed, generous dining, where simple, quality ingredients come together to create something effortlessly elegant.

Perfect for sharing, it invites guests to build their own bites, layering creamy textures with the delicate richness of smoked salmon. Enjoy alongside a glass of our Op Die Berg Chardonnay, where bright citrus notes and subtle oak bring freshness and balance to every element on the plate, elevating each bite into a beautifully rounded experience.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tub full fat cream cheese or cottage cheese
  • 100g smoked salmon/trout
  • 1 tbsp capers
  • Handful fresh dill
  • Pickled or fresh red onions, finely sliced
  • Zest and juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

Assembly:

  1. Using the back of a spoon, make small smears in a circular shape on a large round serving plate.
  2. The smears should have a small indent and resemble petals moving inward.
  3. Tear the smoked salmon/trout into equal sized pieces, about 2x2cm width and height.
  4. Place the salmon pieces into the dents of the cheese smears.
  5. Add capers to the centre of the plate, and scatter the herbs and red onions loosely over the salmon and cheese "flower".
  6. Add olive oil, lemon juice, zest and seasoning to taste.
  7. Toast some bagels, until golden and crispy, cut and serve to smear onto.
  8. Optional: Add a small drizzle of honey for a final touch 

Serve and enjoy with a chilled glass of De Grendel Op Die Berg Chardonnay.
