Summer is made for long and lazy lunches, easy al fresco meals, and picnics in the great outdoors with family and friends. No one wants to slave away for hours behind a stove during the festive season, so why not opt for simple ‘sandwiches’, but with a refined twist? The trusted French Baguette can be spruced up beautifully with an array of delicious ingredients, ideal for summer entertainment over a glass of De Grendel Rosé or two.
We selected 5 different topping combinations to choose from to ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy this holiday.
Ingredients: 2 long plain baguettes
1. Salmon and Strawberry:
- Smoked salmon pieces
- Fresh strawberries
- Balsamic reduction
- Black pepper
2. Prosciutto and Fig:
- Prosciutto (or cured meat of choice)
- Fresh figs (or fresh grapes)
- Rocket or micro greens
- Maldon salt
3. Hummus and Artichoke:
- Grilled artichokes
- Hummus
- Squeeze of lemon juice
- Olive oil
- Maldon salt
4. Sundried Tomato and Goats Cheese:
- Sundried tomatoes
- Goats cheese (or cream cheese)
- Olive oil
- Black pepper
- Micro greens
5. Ricotta, Blackberry and Honey:
- Ricotta cheese
- Black berries (or blueberries)
- Honey
- Maldon salt
To make your Bruschetta Board:
- Cut the baguettes into 2-3cm thick slices at an angle.
- Lightly toast the bread in a pan or oven on 160ºC until warm and slightly crispy, about 5-10min
- Lay out the topping options on a board or table for guests to construct their own combinations, or assemble one of each of the above suggestions.
- Compliment the board with fresh fruit, nuts and colourful flowers on your table.
- Enjoy and serve with De Grendel Rosé.
