Picture-perfect views of Table Mountain, contemporary Cape cuisine and design, and a relaxed fine dining ambiance with friendly, professional service add up to making De Grendel Restaurant one of South Africa’s top 20 most-loved restaurants.
The country’s favourite dining destinations were identified by the ratings of more than 200 000 customers in the 2022 Reviewers’ Choice Award by restaurant reservations platform Dineplan.
Delighted diners placed De Grendel Restaurant in the top 20 of over 1 000 restaurants across the country, by rating and reviewing food, ambiance, service and value on the Dineplan app. De Grendel was also recently voted the best winelands restaurant in the Die Burger Readers’ Choice awards and rated third as the best overall wine estate experience for readers of the Western Cape daily newspaper.
De Grendel Restaurant is consistently highly rated by local and international guests on restaurant review sites, earning a TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice 2022 Award as one of the top 10% of all properties on the site and regularly rating highly in the TripAdvisor rankings of fine dining restaurants in South Africa and Africa.
Head chef Ian Bergh said he and his team were delighted by the latest awards, recognising their efforts in offering a distinctive, memorable dining experience that has customers returning over and over again.
“These awards mean the most to us because they are based on what our customers say about us, showing that the quality of our food, service and beautiful setting are delighting our most powerful critics, who reward De Grendel as a dining experience of choice,” he said.
Bergh and his team offer a seasonally inspired menu that reflects the culinary heritage of the Cape, updating tradition in creative flavour combinations and contemporary style, created to complement the wines of De Grendel.
The interior similarly blends traditional Cape farmhouse décor and the legacy of the Graaff family owners, with modern style and a sophisticated casual ambiance, with the glass-panelled setting captivating visitors with its panoramic views of the farm and its unique wildlife conservancy in an urban setting, across Table Bay to the iconic view of Table Mountain.
