
De Grendel Honoured with Two Gold Medals at Decanter World Wine Awards

De Grendel Wines proudly announces an exceptional achievement at the 2025 Decanter World Wine Awards receiving two Gold medals for its Op Die Berg Chardonnay 2024 and Rubaiyat 2020.
The Decanter World Wine Awards, widely regarded as the world’s most influential and prestigious wine competition, celebrated its 22nd year with approximately 17,000 wines from 57 countries evaluated by a panel of 248 leading international experts, including Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers. The competition's rigorous judging process makes earning a Gold medal a highly coveted global honour.
The De Grendel Op Die Berg Chardonnay 2024 was awarded 96 points, reaffirming its position among South Africa's leading Chardonnays. This accolade follows its recent success at the Trophy Wine Show 2025, where it earned a Gold medal with an outstanding 97 points and was named one of the Top 10 White Wines of the competition.
Joining the Chardonnay in this remarkable achievement is the De Grendel Rubaiyat 2020, which received a Gold medal with 95 points. The Rubaiyat, De Grendel’s flagship Bordeaux-style red blend, continues to demonstrate the estate's mastery of crafting wines of depth, complexity, and ageing potential.
Overall South Africa delivered an outstanding performance at this prestigious competition, achieving a record-breaking 45 Gold medals.
